A Top Family Hotel Choice on Landmark Grounds
Situated between million dollar homes in prestigious Pasadena, the luxurious Langham Huntington hotel is one of the nicest kid-friendly hotels to stay at when visiting Los Angeles or if you are planing a #staycation with the family. Just minutes from the “city that never sleeps”, you and your family will enjoy beautiful gardens, comfortable rooms and attention to detail. The Langham Huntington Pasadena did not disappoint us on our overnight stay. In fact, it far exceeded our expectations.
Our visit to the Langham was specifically geared towards experience the hotel as a family. Sure, we’ve been to other fancy hotels, but none seem to be quite as accommodating as our experience here. There is a stigma sometimes, that five star accommodations are not as good for families with children as 3 to 4 star hotels would be. However, we found the Langham Huntington to be quite lovely with phenomenal rooms, great service and most important, kid-friendly.
Our Experience At The Langham Hungtington Hotel
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by very courteous valet staff (there is no self-park). At check in, the lobby was beautifully decorated as I expected and the sense of tranquility was quite a nice touch. You know that feeling you get when you are in a really nice place and you would not mind living there? Well, that was what we felt right at check-in! Gorgeous!
We checked in and checked our bags with the bell desk as we arrived a bit early. We were provided with a complementary gift certificate to The Tap Room so that instead of sitting in the lobby to wait for our room, we could enjoy a few drinks while we waited. That was a pleasant surprise. After walking around the lobby and enjoying a walk through the hotel grounds, we proceeded to enjoy a drink at The Tap Room.
The Tap Room at the Langham
Wow what a view! The Tap Room is a stylish and inviting space featuring classic and innovative cocktails, wine, premium beers on tap from around the world and an upscale, innovative bar food. Not entirely known for this, I also found them to have one of the best latte’s and hot chocolate I have ever had. After all, I was on mommy duty and thus, I had to pass on the alcoholic beverages. The view on the terrace was quite breathtaking and my daughter really enjoyed it.

Our Grand Room at The Langham Huntington
Our room was ready for us at about 3:30. We stayed in the Grand Room with double beds, a foyer and large bathroom. The first thing I noticed was that the beds were VERY comfortable and you could literally sink into them and fall asleep. They were a favorite for our 8 year old too! The room was about 550 square feet which gave our daughter enough space to do cartwheels and lay on the floor and color. The attention to detail was amazing and the walls were not paper thin as other properties sometimes have a problem with. The bathroom had a tub and a separate shower with ample room for a family to share. The Langham also provided complimentary ice and water and there was a desk with enough room to work — should guests require the space. We were quite impressed with this.
Langham Kids Program
The Langham Huntington adds a really nice touch by offering the Langham Kids Program. At check-in my daughter received all of the following which she enjoyed and was kept busy in the evening before bed.
- A Langham “Theodore” teddy bear backpack
- Coloring book and crayons
- Kids newsletter which includes family-friendly activities in the area
- Complimentary kids’ dinner in The Terrace restaurant (must dine with parent/adult who orders entrée from dinner menu; child meal from kids menu; valid for dinner only each evening for duration of stay)
- A complimentary Langham chocolate bar from our Flavours of Langham Gift Boutique (subject to change seasonally)
The Elite Club Lounge
During our stay, we had the pleasure of experiencing the Club Lounge which offered all-day refreshments and five culinary and beverage presentations throughout the day. It was such a delight for us and our child was very well-received which was a huge plus! Club privileges included:
- Complimentary Premium Internet access in the Langham Club Lounge, guestroom and public areas
- Concierge services
- Three garments pressed during stay
- Computer work station
- Bicycle rental
- Continental breakfast
- Light snacks
- Cream Tea
- Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails
- Cordials and after-dinner sweets
A Little Bit About the Langham Huntington, Pasadena
The Langham Huntington Pasadena has several on-site restaurants, one pool, 380 stunning rooms and various gardens throughout. They have been sponsors of the Tournaments of Roses parade and the property was recently used for the filming of The Disney movie, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3. This was a great topic of conversation for our 8 year old and made her stay an even more memorable one.
