Family Entertainment Just Off the Las Vegas Strip
The Silverton Casino aquarium which is located just a short drive off of the Las Vegas strip proved to be a great family stop on our recent visit to Las Vegas. Named the “Best Free Attraction” in Las Vegas, the saltwater Silverton Casino aquarium is really cool and impressive and will keep the kids happily entertained. On the outskirts of the casino at the Silverton, you will find a 117,000-gallon reef aquarium with stingrays, sharks and over 4,000 tropical fish. The aquarium is in cylindrical form so that kids can get an up-close look at various species of fish and sea creatures on any side of the aquarium.
Silverton Casino Aquarium Live Mermaids and Feedings
The Silverton Casino aquarium has live interactive stingray feedings daily at 1:30pm and 4:30pm in which they answers guests’ questions (via a communications mask) during the feeding. The aquarium also has live mermaid swims that take place Thursday through Saturday at 2:15 – 3:30, 5:00 – 6:45 and 7:30 – 8:15 and Sunday at 11:30 – 12:45, 2:15 – 3:45 and 5:00 – 6:45. There is a 15 minute show intermission between individual swims.
Directly across from this aquarium (in front of the Bass Pro Shop) is another fresh water aquarium. This large outdoor lake looking aquarium simulates Red Rock Canyon’s rock formations complete with waterfalls and is filled with beautiful Koi fish.
We came across this aquarium by chance while looking for a quick bite to eat. We ended up spending quite a bit of time there and stopped to view the fish during feeding time. It was family time well spent and I’m sure we’ll be back again next year. If you are in Las Vegas and have some time to spare or are in the neighborhood, we recommend that you stop by with the kids to check it out. Parking is free and so is this awesome aquarium.
