The Real Shops of the Las Vegas Reality Shows
Okay. Yes. I admit it. My husband, daughter and I are borderline reality TV junkies. Most people when in Vegas can’t wait to hit the slots, shows and infamous buffets. So, with that preface, not us. We have to find something totally different to do like venture into the community and look at mansion homes that sell for a fraction of what they would sell for in Los Angeles, find off the beaten path eateries and search for Las Vegas reality shows shop and TV stars. Ha! That’s quite the contrary for many other people. Well, we’ve been to Vegas so much that we like to explore the city. On one of our last trips to Las Vegas, we decided to visit a couple of reality TV stars and the businesses that made them popular.
Gold & Silver Pawn Shop from Pawn Stars
Our first stop was the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop situated just on the north end of the strip home towards old downtown Las Vegas. The pawn shop is now wildly popular from its own reality TV show Pawn Stars. It’s quite fascinating and prior to the show I thought that a pawn shop was something illegal. Knowing now how everything works I actually think it’s hilarious that I thought pawn shops were seedy.
My 8 year old absolutely loves this show (with some parental supervision) and my husband and I like watching it too. We went there to get a little bit of that entertainment world. It was great place to visit. It was cool to see items in the store that we had previously seen in the TV show. It was quite fascinating to see my daughter point out things in the store knowing the history in which the store acquired them (based on the stories told in the show). She was excited and it was completely worth the trip down there.
We suggest checking it out if you have an hour or so to spare. It’s interesting to see so many unique items from so many different eras. Don’t expect to see the cast in the store as I was told that they are there only on certain days to do the shoots. Things may have changed (I doubt it), so you might want to call first. Please note that since the show is so popular, you will not be the only one wandering in the shop. There will most likely be a wait to get in the pawn shop and you may get kicked out when they are going to shoot, which happened to us. Still, it was a very cool short trip to check the shop out. My husband even bought a mug signed by “The Old Man” with the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop logo on the side. The Gold & Silver Pawn Shop is located at 713 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89101
Acrylic Tank Manufacturing from Tanked
Our second stop was at Acrylic Tank Manufacturing (ATM) which is home of the Animal Planet’s hit show Tanked. The show is another favorite of our daughter and we enjoy watching it with her. Madison was really excited to see the shop and maybe meet someone from the show. ATM is located in a commercial business strip just west of the interstate 15 freeway closer to the south end of the strip near the South Point Resort. The first thing we saw in their parking lot was the bus that they turned into a fish tank in one of the episodes.
Don’t expect to see Hollywood glitz and glamour at their shop, as it is just like any other business out there. However, you can probably expect to see some of the cast there – we did! They were the nicest people ever and greeted us like any good business person would. They even had time to snap a picture with us which really excited our daughter! To add yet another smile to Madi’s face, Brett gave our daughter a postcard signed by the cast of the show. While we waited for our turn to chat with them, we walked around the area and saw all of the cool and fun fish they had in tanks throughout their showroom.
I got a chance to chat with Brett Raymer and he shared with me that they got the show because he put an idea into a script and pitched it to the production company. Just like that they landed this gig and VOILA, instant success! It was nice to see that even after all of the teams accomplishments and success, they still remain loyal and friendly to their clients, customers and fans! We also recommend checking out their entertaining and family friendly show, Tanked on Animal Planet. Acrylic Tank Manufacturing is located at 3451 W Martin Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89118.
So, if you and the kids enjoy watching either of these two Las Vegas reality shows, we recommend stopping by when you are in town. No guarantees on seeing the cast at either place, but it is still a fun thing to do with the kids when in Las Vegas.
Can you please give me the 2 addresses for the Pawn Shop and Tanked showroom? Thank you!
