Union Pizza Company’s Chicago Deep Dish or N.Y. Thin Crust
Okay, let me start off by saying that I have never been to Chicago and have therefore never had a true Chicago deep dish pie. That being said, I grew up with plenty of Chicago pizza places in our city and most of them brought their pie knowledge from Chicago. Today in Los Angeles, there are not too many places to get a deep dish pie, so I jumped at the chance to try out Union Pizza Company’s deep dish pizza.
Union Pizza Company’s quaint little pizza shop is located in a nice family friendly stretch of Manhattan Beach shops and restaurants. They have about a dozen or so tables inside and a big shared dining patio right out front. The large shopping center has plenty of parking, so no need to worry about that or having a place to sit and eat.
The Pizza Pies
We had Chicago Deep Dish pizza which takes about 30 minutes to cook. The wait time is well worth it when you take your first bite of this pizza pie. The crust is a flaky golden brown that is mildly sweet, the cheese gooey, and tomato chunks and sauce complete this delicious deep dish pizza. The layers of cheeses and sauces mix well and you get that gooey cheese stretching out as you plate a piece for yourself and the family. As far as deep dish pizza goes, this is hands down the best deep dish pizza we have had in Los Angeles.
We also had the New York Thin Crust pizza with peppers and onions which made this a pizza solely for the adults. The thin crust pizza was crispy on the bottom and rich on the top. It is a hand tossed pizza with whole milk mozzarella cheese and fire cooked peppers and onions layered on top of their tomato sauce. We enjoyed this pizza as well, but since they serve that killer deep dish, I am not sure how many times we will get the thin pie.
You can tell that Union Pizza Company really uses quality ingredients in the pizza pies once you have a taste of them. They use all natural ingredients and even have nitrite free natural cheeses and meats. They also make their dough in house and you can tell.
Other than Pizza
One of our favorites to order along with the deep dish pizza is their garlic rolls. Hey, when you order a large deep dish pizza, you might as well go all the way and get the knots too, right? The garlic knots are a bit crunchy on the outside and delicately soft on the inside and the best part is the real garlic sauce with bits of chopped pieces. Just delicious!
Union Pizza Company’s website rounds out its menu with more appetizers, fresh salads, sandwiches and homemade pastas. I am pretty sure they don’t have desserts, but don’t worry as there is an amazing dessert place two doors down called Nothing Bundt Cake. If you love pizza, either deep dish or thin crust, you have to stop by Union Pizza Company and try one of their homemade quality pizza pies. We plan to be customers for years to come.

We were provided a complimentary meal for the purpose of covering it on our blog. We had eaten here prior and since our blog review. Regardless, we would only recommend places, activities or services that we would use/visit personally and that we believe will be good for our readers.
