The Gazebo Restaurant at Napili Shores
During our stay at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa in Lahaina, we were looking to get out and explore some of the island. We were looking to grab a bite to eat and then head to the beach. I had read about the Gazebo Restaurant, its ocean views and how good their breakfast was. While figuring out directions to the restaurant, I found out that it is steps away from Napili Bay and its family friendly beach and tide pools. So, we decided to grab breakfast at the Gazebo and then head over to the beach for a few hours.
The Gazebo Restaurant is nestled in the Outrigger Napili Shores which is a condominium vacation rental complex. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch only, so make sure to give yourself enough time as there will almost always be a wait. Our wait (a semi-long line near the condos’ pool) for breakfast was about 45 minutes. During your wait in line for a table, all but one of you can go and check out the tide pools of Napili Bay which is only down a few steps from the Gazebo restaurant. This alone makes the wait, especially for the kids, bearable.
The inside of the small restaurant has a few seats in the middle and the rest are lined along the windows. If you are lucky, you will get a seat facing Napili Bay. If you ask before getting seated and find that you will not be on side facing the bay, you can ask to wait until one opens up for you. Although we were lucky enough to get a Napili Bay facing table, we would have waited the extra few minutes to get such a beautiful view. The one thing you will have to deal with is the small birds that fly up to the open slots in the window to see if they can catch you napping and grab some food. They weren’t that aggressive and our daughter though it was quite fun to see them fly up to the window. Just make sure to cover your food when you head to the restroom.

Breakfast at the Gazebo Restaurant
Besides the beautiful view, the Gazebo Restaurant has some great breakfast dishes on their menu. We had read online reviews before heading there to eat and read that the pancakes and fried rice plates were a must when dining there. I ordered the Banana Macadamia Nut Pancakes and Big Kahuna omelet, my wife got the Fried Rice Plate and Madi had a little of everything. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs as we passed on the half portion of fried rice and added a third pancake for an extra two bucks. Well, the portions were so generous that we finished only a half of the fried rice plate, left a half of pancake and a third of the omelet.
Our meal was well worth the wait! The Banana Macadamia Nut Pancakes were light and fluffy, golden brown, had just enough sweetness, nutty and purely delicious. The massive mound of fried rice was equally as tasty with a salty and meaty flavor and the eggs made it more breakfasty (should I copyright that?). Normally an omelet is an omelet, but the Big Kahuna omelet comes with bacon, Portuguese sausage, onions, avocado and pepper jack cheese which made it a unique dish that was quite delicious. Overall, we loved all of the dishes we tried, but the Banana Macadamia Nut Pancakes were a standout and was the favorite dish of our family.
With the combo of great breakfast dishes that unique and delicious and a beautiful topical view of Napili Bay and you have a must visit restaurant. Locals and tourists alike flock to the Gazebo Restaurant, so make sure to give you and your family time to eat and enjoy one of the nicest breakfast places on Maui. Make a day out of it and bring your beach gear to hit up the beach and tide pools after you are done dining.
